What is an adverb? An adverb is a word that is used to qualify or modify different types of words. The adverb can change a verb, an adjective, another adverb or a clause. Adverbs are the words that describe how, when, where something happened. Some of the adverbs end in -ly: strongly, carefully, etc. Not all adverbs have this ending. Types of adverbs

There are several types of adverbs in English. An adverb of place is the type of adverb that explains in what place an action happens. It can show the directions, position or distance of an event. An adverb of manner explains how did something happen. An adverb of time explains when did something happen. They usually come last in a sentence. An adverb of frequency explains how often does something occur. There are two types of adverbs of frequency: of definite frequency and indefinite frequency. An adverb of purpose explains why did something happen. The adverbs' position in a sentence may differ.
